Window and Door Rescue replaces broken, cracked and failed glass in residential and commercial aluminium joinery across Tauranga and Mount Maunganui. In almost every case the frame stays exactly where it is — only the glass comes out.
Two jobs make up most of the glass work we get called to. The first is a straightforward broken or cracked pane: a stone off the mower, a slammed door, a knock during a move. The second is a double glazing unit that has failed — the seal between the two panes has gone, moisture has got in, and the window now fogs up from the inside where no amount of cleaning reaches it. That unit is replaced as a sealed cassette; the joinery around it is untouched.
The process is the same either way. We measure the opening on site, order the glass cut to size, then come back and fit it — the old glass and beading come out, the new pane is bedded in, and the beads go back on. Because we work on the joinery itself every day, anything we find behind the glass while it is out gets dealt with at the same time.
We work on building glass only — windows, doors and joinery. We don't do vehicle windscreens or auto glass.
Most glass jobs in Tauranga get handed to a glazier who replaces the pane and leaves. But broken glass rarely arrives on its own — the frame that took the hit is often out of square, the rubber seal around it has perished in the salt air, or the stay that let the window slam is the reason the pane broke in the first place. Replacing the glass without fixing the cause gets you a second broken pane.
Window and Door Rescue is a joinery repair business that also glazes. Jason quotes the job and does the work himself, so the frame, the seals, the hardware and the glass are all assessed as one problem rather than four separate trades.
If the glass is intact and it is the frame, seals or hardware giving you trouble, that is covered under window repairs and upgrades.
In almost every case, just the glass. If the aluminium frame is sound, the pane is replaced inside the existing joinery and the window goes back to doing its job. Full replacement is only worth it when the frame itself has failed.
Yes. Fogging between the panes means the seal around the double glazing unit has failed and moisture has got inside — it can't be cleaned out, because the moisture is sealed within the unit. The unit is replaced as a whole sealed cassette and the surrounding joinery stays put.
Two visits. We measure the opening on site and quote, then the glass is cut to size and we return to fit it. Glass has to be made to the exact opening, so it can't be carried on the van and fitted the same hour.
No. We work on building glass only — windows, doors and joinery in homes and commercial premises. Vehicle glass is a different trade with different equipment.
Tauranga, Mount Maunganui, Pāpāmoa, Bethlehem, Ōtumoetai, Greerton, Welcome Bay and Pyes Pa, plus Te Puke, Katikati and Ōmokoroa. We'll travel further for larger jobs.
No. Quotes are free and on site — we need to see the joinery and measure the opening to price glass accurately, so it's always an in-person visit rather than a number over the phone.
